I've been busy gaming and wrestling with the depression demon -- and not updating here at all. Bad Jae... I actually have a lot of thoughts I might want to share, but I never seem to get around to it.
Nor am I sharing much of those thoughts today -- just a wonderful tool I stumbled across (thanks to friend Reimer) that I think is invaluable both as a GM and as a player.
The Quick Character Generator comes up with randomized character concepts, and is part of a larger site of entertaining and useful generators -- Seventh Sanctum. Cleverly (and appropriately) subtitled "Notions Ex Machina", it contains a variety of idea generators.
I frequently start characters with not much more than a one sentence description, and I love having something unusual to work with. The one thing I hate is falling into a rut -- and I will, if left to my own devices. There are certain archetypes I return to time after time, and something like this can help me put a different spin on the same old thing.
What goes for me as a player goes triple when GMing. I love this site! (I also love his slick PHP code...)
