I keep needing to refer to my Gencon schedule, so I'm putting it where I (and others) can find it easily.  I wasn't going to run at all this year, but have allowed myself to be roped in by the Blackmoor people.  They've got 7 judges and 80 tables (and that's just preregistration!) for a D&D campaign that I mostly enjoy.  I am such a sucker...

I am at the moment pretty unhappy with Gencon LLC.  They double-charged me for my tickets, ignored my request for a refund, then sent me the double tickets.  At that point I emailed Peter Adkinson (who is a nice guy, and very reasonable, but, I think, not accurately informed by his staff) and got the ball rolling with Customer Service.  CS, however, wanted me to mail the tickets back to get a refund.  I finally managed to do so on Saturday, confident they'd arrive by the Wednesday deadline.  Not so much.  So, now I appear to be out the $37.50 because they have the extra tickets - I can't even sell them back on site now.  My finances are going to be very tight this Gencon due to some pilferage from my account (yes, cancelled the card and all, and expect to get it back eventually) and my recent run of unemployment.  I could have used that $37.50 to eat for a couple of days.  Grrrr...  I haven't given up - I have a letter detailing the tickets returned that I can send along - but it's not looking good.

  • 1 pm - 6 pm - Play Living Death Amulet #1 "Signs and Portents"
  • 7 pm - 11 pm - Living Death interactive.  I usually work these, but don't have confirmation that I'm doing so, and GCLLC did not fill my order for a ticket for this.  I may miss my first LD Interactive, but I hope not.

  • 8 am - noon - Run Dave Arneson's Blackmoor (not sure which one at this point; probably "Lessons")
  • noon - 6 pm - Play Savage Worlds "Dark Harvest". I've heard a lot of good about this game and want to try it.
  • 6 pm - 11 pm - Play Play Living Death Amulet #3 "Requiem"

*gasp* Is that a break I see in your schedule? Friday AM - nothing? no commitment? No place to get up and be to? Woooow. You could go to the dealer room and spend that $37.50 you no longer have.

I hate CS for just about everything. My first thought was, "At least you have the tickets, maybe you can sell them?" So much for that. And if you think about it, since you'll be a no-show for your second seat (unless you have more superpowers than I realized), they'll take somebody else's generic ticket for that seat, thus getting twice the $$ for it. How awesome is that.

Have fun!!

Yes, I actually have a 4 hour unscheduled block. While I won't have much money to buy anything for myself, I still plan to wander the dealer's room at talk to my vendor friends. I also have money from Lisa G to buy various things for her, so I can buy vicariously.

Heck, I still think that I can get my money back - just maybe not before the convention. I'll have fun - I always do, now that I'm not a slave to RPGA.

Wee!!! This is why I haven't bought tickets for GenCon. I'm going to buy a fist full of generics on Wednesday, and... do whatever! Muah-ha-ha! Although I may just volunteer to run Temple of the Frog Thursday evening... :P

Shamba (bobwhj@yahoo.com) is really, really desperate for GM's. Make his day and email him that you'll run a couple of slots. He needs people for Temple, and you'd do a good job of it (unlike me - I'm too slow with combat).

Send a wave at the northwest side as you fly in, or drive through.

You're in Indy? Are you going to Gencon? I'm driving - I'm about 5 1/2 hours away, in E. Lansing, MI.

Yeah, lived here since 2000. And noooo I haven't been to a con in over 10 years. I don't count Star Wars: Celebrations II because all I did was gawk at the dealer room and take pictures of costumers.

While gencon might seem right up my alley, there are several factors discouraging me, money being the primary element, time being the other. Additionally, I'm not so much a fanboy that I'd get anything out of any of the guest panels; I don't have the money to buy new gaming books; and I'm perfectly happy roleplaying with people I know instead of sitting at a table with a bunch of strangers for a 4 hour session of rushed gaming.

Then again, I could have a lot of preconceptions ;)

This will be the very first GenCon I have missed in ten years; I am moving to Missouri that weekend. Tell us how the "After Serenity" events go...

Sorry to hear about the troubles! I myself realized today that my admission badge hasn't arrived. Yike. I got the badge and tickets for my friend from overseas, who has it shipped to him at my address. Go figure.

Sadly I'm not going to make it to GenCon this year. Have fun!
