I started late (mid-80's), but I still have my red and blue boxed sets.

I didn't start until 1984 either. I played one session of Tomb of Horrors (AD&D), then we switched to Traveller.

I wasn't that fond of D&D even in those days :)

Newbieness? It's been so long since I was a newbie that I've forgotten what it's like. I've been gaming for more than half my life. (God, that's a scary thought)
